Meet The Team

Mary Blair
“I am a very happily retired community worker who just enjoys working with others to make things happen. I spent most of my working life organising fun adult learning opportunities for folk and I am now throwing myself into everything that comes my way. Self confidence and how to build it has formed the basis of my life principals and art is a fantastic medium to do this.”

“I moved back to Edinburgh five years ago after running a successful hairdressing business for 30 years. Art has always been a big part of my life and when I was given the opportunity to be part of Dalkeith Arts I jumped at the chance. My driving force is to bring the fun back into art and to open endless opportunities for the people of Midlothian. So come on in, you won’t regret it.”

“I have always been slightly obsessed with art which led to achieving a Design and Applied Arts degree from Edinburgh College of Art. I took a break from the art world for a period to focus on my two children, husband, and personal health. We moved to Dalkeith in 2013 and I was excited to discover a local art group and even more delighted when Mary asked me to join the committee. Having grown up in the Highlands of Scotland, I am inspired by strong colours, changing light, and dramatic skies. This continues to influence my work.”

“I have enjoyed being part of the team over the last year and will continue to share my skills in my role as treasurer. I am mother to 3 children and enjoy escapism in art when time allows.”
